Sumita is an entrepreneur at heart. Her core expertise is in commercial strategy, ensuring that our ideas are strategically sound, have the maximum impact, and are accelerated all the way to market. She is relentless in her pursuit of exactly how – and how much – new ideas will contribute to a client’s business. In addition, Sumita has leveraged her commercial expertise to work extensively in building innovation culture and capability across leading organizations. At ?What If!, Sumita has worked on several disruptive innovation projects, from launching a new pet insurance business to building a $1B big bet for a global food and beverage player. Sumita has also led the innovation agenda at a leading U.S. social mission-based organization, where she helped build the innovation team structure and process and designed a capability- building program for the entire organization.

Sumita has a long history of launching businesses. Prior to ?What If!, Sumita worked at Disney, where she focused on launching several mobile and digital businesses. In addition, Sumita worked for several years within the media and entertainment practice for a leading strategy consulting firm. Sumita holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Sumita’s kids, a couple of bright young entrepreneurs in their own right, see an opportunity for her in their nightly bedtime ritual: they believe she should publish all the children’s stories she writes and tells.

The ?! moment I’ve felt the most Impact:
We were meeting with an organization’s board to request funding for a new digital health subscription offering. The board unanimously approved the plan. Six months later, the app was in market and exceeding even our original expectations. We had designed it and built it. And it was a success!
