Innovation is a hot word in China at the moment. And it comes the very top. Back in January, President Hu Jintao called on the people to "work to build China into an innovation-oriented country" and to develop "innovation with Chinese characteristics". He even wants innovation to be encouraged in the education sector. But what exactly is innovation? And why is it so important to China?
