Launch of the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise at HM Treasury
?What If! together with Unltd and the Office of the Third sector were delighted to celebrate Social Enterprise Day with the launch of the Commission for Youth Social Entrepreneurship.
The event was hosted by Kristina Murrin from ?What If!, Ed Miliband, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector.
The Commission is a new group created by 21 of the UK's leading young social entrepreneurs. They are all practitioners working on projects around the country who first came together when they were selected from the 10,000 young people supported by the Big Lottery Fund to attend the inaugural ?What If! Big Boost Summer Academy.
The group has a mission to work across sectors to make the world more conducive to other young people who are passionate about social change. The launch marked the first time that there will be a collective voice from young people in the social entrepreneurship world.
The week long academy aimed to inspire creativity and learning among the young social entrepreneurs to enable them to share experiences, learn from one another and help broaden the impact they have on society.
Angela Smith, from the ?What If! team said: " It was amazing to hear their stories and see what they've all achieved since our week together in July. We were then and continue to be blown away by their thirst for knowledge and really making a difference in the world."
